Finding steady ground after diagnosis
Research, retreats and a community built around what people newly diagnosed with IBD actually need — practical support, honest information, and space to breathe.
Understanding the loneliest point in the journey
In progressWe're currently completing a narrative review exploring the lived experiences of people newly diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease.
Diagnosis is often the loneliest, most disorienting point in the whole IBD journey — yet it's the moment with the least targeted support. Our review brings together existing evidence to understand exactly where that gap is.
- Reviewing published evidence on the emotional and practical impact of early IBD diagnosis
- Identifying where current support falls short in the first months after diagnosis
- Shaping further research with genuinely actionable outcomes
Real spaces to step away and breathe
Funded by the shop & donationsPurchases from our shop and donations goes towards funding retreats — real spaces where people facing IBD can meet others who understand, step away from the pressure of daily management, and learn practical ways to cope.
- Time with people who genuinely get it — no explaining required
- Gentle, low-pressure activities and rest
- Guest sessions with dietitians, gastro nurses and other specialists

Take on a challenge, fund a place
If you'd rather raise money than give it, we'd love to have you. Runs, swims, skydives — whatever suits you — every pound raised goes toward funding retreat places and keeping our resources free.
Run
5Ks, half marathons, marathons or your own route round the block — pick a distance and we'll cheer you the whole way.
Swim
Pool challenges, open water, or a sponsored lap count — a steady, low-impact way to raise a serious amount.
Skydive
For anyone who fancies the big one. Tandem jumps at centres across the UK — we'll help you set up your fundraising page.
Already signed up to something, or thinking about it? Tell us what you're planning and we'll help with sponsorship links, a Steady Grounds t-shirt to run in, and a shout-out from us along the way.

We're lining up our first organised challenge events — team places at runs, swims and jumps you can join rather than arrange yourself. Dates and sign-up details will be posted here as soon as they're confirmed.
